Types of Steel Frame Systems

At SteelLink, we provide fully engineered light gauge steel (LGS) and steel frame systems (SFS) designed for performance, compliance, and speed.

Whether your project needs a non-loadbearing facade infill system or a fully structural frame, our solutions are supported by PI-insured engineering, BS and EN standard compliance, and full material traceability from design to installation.

We help contractors, developers, and architects deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective builds across the UK.

Infill SFS Systems

Non-loadbearing framing installed between a building’s main structure — such as concrete slabs or hot-rolled steel columns. Infill SFS provides the external wall framework for façades, insulation, and cladding, offering a faster, cleaner, and higher-performing alternative to blockwork.

Ideal for office buildings, student accommodation, schools, and healthcare projects.

Loadbearing (Fully Structural) Systems

Our loadbearing systems form the primary structure of a building, supporting floors, roofs, and façades. They combine lightness with strength, reducing foundation sizes and speeding up construction.

Each system includes PI-insured structural design, engineering calculations, and compliance certification, making them ideal for multi-storey residential, hotel, and mixed-use developments.

Pre-Panelised Systems

Pre-panelised SFS is assembled off-site into complete wall panels for rapid installation. This method offers precision, consistency, and shorter build times, with minimal waste.

Perfect for modular construction, commercial units, and high-volume residential projects where efficiency and quality are essential.

Oversail & High-Bay Wall Systems

Engineered for large façades, extended floor plates, or tall elevations, these systems maintain rigidity and accuracy where scale and wind load require enhanced performance.

Commonly used in industrial buildings, retail developments, and complex facades.

Accessories & Fixings

SteelLink supplies a full range of studs, tracks, connectors, screws, and accessories, ensuring every system is complete, compliant, and installation-ready.

Each SteelLink system is engineered for performance, compliance, and value, providing the reliability and traceability today’s construction industry demands.

Our systems are used across student accommodation, hotels, residential apartments, offices, schools, and healthcare developments throughout the UK.

Certifications & Fire Testing

At SteelLink, every system we provide is supported by certified design and testing data from our manufacturing and engineering partners. We work closely with accredited UK testing bodies and certified SFS producers to ensure all systems meet current BS and EN standards for safety, quality, and performance. Fire safety and structural integrity are central to every SteelLink solution. All systems are tested in UKAS-accredited third-party laboratories, with fire, acoustic, and structural data available on request to support specification and compliance for your project. Our partners’ systems are tested to suit a wide range of build-ups, including various board and insulation types, ensuring reliable performance across both infill and loadbearing SFS applications.

Available Certifications

We can provide documentation and test data for the following certifications upon request:

  • EN1090 UKCA Marked Products – confirming conformity for factory-produced cold-formed steel framing components.

  • ISO 9001 (QMS Certified) – ensuring quality management and traceability throughout the design and supply process.

  • British Board of Agrément (BBA) – verifying product compliance and suitability for construction use.

  • Steel Construction Institute (SCI) & Light Steel Frame Association Membership – demonstrating ongoing technical collaboration and adherence to best practice across the SFS industry.

These accreditations reflect our commitment to industry standards, compliance, and continual improvement, giving contractors and specifiers full confidence that every SFS system supplied by SteelLink meets tested and certified performance benchmarks.

Fire Testing

Fire test performance data is available for both infill and loadbearing SFS wall types, tested to BS and EN standards. Testing covers a range of build-ups using leading board and insulation manufacturers, ensuring robust compliance across varied specifications. If you require fire test reports, acoustic data, or specific compliance certificates, please contact our technical team. We’ll provide the relevant documentation and technical guidance for your project.
